Golden gown update: I attached a guard to the forepart (pictures to come). The base is dark green, and it has a white satin ribbon down the center. Thin purple ribbon cris-crosses the trim with a gold button in each triangle. Sadly, it turned out longer than the skirt, so I’m taking it up about 5/8 of an inch. The pattern is now white-green from top to bottom instead of green-white-green. I like it.
This week, I’ll be able to focus on sleeves for each layer, then I should be done. First, I’ll make the narrow curved sleeves to match the forepart. Then, I’ll tweak the cap sleeves, just to be sure that everything fits together. Lastly, I’ll redo to smock sleeves.
Next up: sketching something for the husband to wear.
