July is here

I’m down to finishing touches on the golden gown.  I have to attach the points to the sleeves and figure out how to close them.  I skipped the corded loops step–didn’t feel right for the project.  I got bored one night, and made a round hat.  I just have to attach the comb for that. I still haven’t touched the smock, but I may just go with last year’s chemise if I don’t get motivated soon enough.

Big news: I entered the Iron Dress the Third competition for the Margo Anderson Patterns group.   It started today, and I’ll be entering an ensemble for the husband.  The idea is to use only what you have on hand, and the three fabric tubs in the closet pretty much demand that I enter.  I’m starting a new project page for this called “Hubby’s ID III”.  I plan to make updates each day that I actually work on the project so that I can start judging just how long it takes me to complete a project.  The competition runs today through Sept. 15.  Ideally, I would have his ensemble ready for PARF’s opening day, but rushing hardly yields superior results.  I also haven’t planned exactly what materials I’ll be using for his doublet, which doesn’t help.

I’m going to go do something productive before I lose the urge.

Thanks for reading!
