Taking a break

The sewing table has been folded down and the tools have been put away.  Company’s coming, and there’s cleaning to do.  I hope that this [needed] break will refresh my brain so that I can attack the LC doublet bodice with new energy next week. The PARF has announced a bonus weekend, and I want to get that project done well in advance so that I can make a new kirtle.  I want to go as Little Red Riding Hood for one weekend, now that my cloak has been hemmed.

I pulled our Maroon & Gold ensembles out of storage to check fit and to inspect for necessary repairs.  I am happy to report that things look acceptable; although, I never noticed how long my gown’s bodice was.  The straps really need to be shortened, but I don’t know if I want to remove the shoulder rolls for this weekend.  It’s a strange feeling to look at my first gown out to wear, knowing the things I know now, especially about lining, which it has none of.  The rigilene has started to poke through in the back–not something I’m going to fix in the near future, but if I send the gown off to a new home one day, I’ll consider it.  All of a sudden, I wish I had a high necked bodice to wear, since it’s starting to get cooler.  I don’t want to pull out the black smock just yet.  Maybe I can make a quick partlet…

Thanks for stopping by.  Here’s to a weekend filled with merriment!
