…don’t even kind of make a whole. If faire started tomorrow, we’d have to dig in the closet for something to wear. I have two completed pieces, and they do not make an outfit. They’re my underbits, and the corset was completed earlier this year. I’m not unhappy about my progress thus far, but I have a lot of ends to sew under before we can step out one week from today.
The Husband’s doublet needs the skirting and eyelet strip stitched on. It was too short, so the waist treatment was an afterthought. It also needs buttons (15 of the little buggers) and button holes (argh). The buttons are still being made (two per hour) on my lunch breaks. Lord, help me. His shirt still needs laces for the cuffs…’cause you would think I could at least do that (sigh).
I need to put the eyelets around the waistband of his slops, attach the codpiece (two more blasted buttons), and tighten those leg bands.
I haven’t even addressed his accessories, but I suppose he’ll get a hat, a new pouch, and (crap) he needs a new belt.
I need to finish cording my petticoat, and then, I need to grommet and hem my gown. I busted my bum to get the gown done as far as I did in one week, and I’m mostly pleased with the results. The neckline on both the shirt and the gown leave much to be desired, but I don’t have time to moan about it. My accessories are going to take two days, I’m sure. I need sleeve cuffs to match the gown, a silver girdle, something for my hair, and a partlet, despite the lack of skin showing up top.
The Tiny Princess is currently attending faire in a diaper. I’ll probably start and finish her gown tomorrow, leaving the rest of the load as is for a day. It’ll be nice to finish one something at least.
I brought this upon myself, and I love it.
