Have you ever decided to make an outfit based on an accessory? A startling number of my costumes happen that way. My brother’s birthday gift to me ages ago was a steel take on the Hylian shield and Master sword–nothing I can take to an event, but certainly worthy of display and photos. This project has been YEARS in the making…as in, I bought (and pre-washed) the linen in 2011. It’s been on the shelf since then, but thanks again to quarantine for pushing me to work on these stashbusting dreams.

The plan for Link is a fitted, short-sleeved linen kirtle and matching hood with appropriately themed accessories that I’ve collected, so we’ll see how that changes.

The plan for Zelda is an embroidered, long-sleeved kirtle in white, with a sideless surcote and foam pauldrons. I made my first Zelda in 2011, so I’m familiar with the pieces, but changing them to fit the Medieval theme should be fun!
